Bryce Eldridge is hard to miss.
The San Francisco Giants’ top prospect stands 6-foot-7, and that was a historic number when he made his MLB debut on Monday night.
Because the second Eldridge took that field in Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks, he was tied for a Giants franchise record.
That 6-foot-7 is the tallest a player has ever stood for the Giants. Eldridge is now tied for that record with Desi Wilson and Damon Minor, who like Eldridge were also first basemen.
Eldridge’s debut may not have gone exactly how the Giants wanted, as they struggled to keep up on the scoreboard.
But the big fella did have one impressive swing that was just incredibly unlucky:

The Giants are still in the wild card race, but they’ll need a few of those Eldridge swings to leave the yard to really make their mark in chasing down the New York Mets fully (and holding off the Cincinnati Reds).
Eldridge’s call-up was pretty much necessitated by a Dominic Smith injury. Before that, the Giants seemed content to wait for him to make his debut until next season.
Now, Eldridge has arrived, and San Francisco will hope he can play at the height of his powers.
