Manchester United have been urged to take advantage of a rare transfer twist in the Premier League.
Marc Guehi, the Crystal Palace captain, was on the verge of a Liverpool switch in the summer, but the deal collapsed at the final moment.
Now, voices around Old Trafford are suggesting United should make their move.
The England defender had been lined up for a £35 million transfer to Anfield, with reports of a medical already taking place in London.
But Palace pulled back on deadline day, apparently due to uncertainty over manager Oliver Glasner’s future and the lack of a replacement. That left Guehi at Selhurst Park, with his future still very much in the air.
Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown believes the time is right for his old club to act.

Speaking to OLBG, he said: “I don’t see why not. I’m not sure if he’s got a preferred team out of them… but it would be brilliant to see him in a Man United shirt.”
Could Man Utd step in for Marc Guehi?
United strengthened their attack heavily last summer but left the defense untouched. With Jonny Evans gone and Victor Lindelof also departing, Ruben Amorim’s squad could use more stability at the back.
Guehi, at 25, already captains Palace and has been a regular in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
Brown added: “He’s done everything he’s needed to do to prove he can get to that top level. Now he will probably be looking at can he win stuff, can he be battling in Champions League, can he be battling for leagues, FA Cups.”
Palace, meanwhile, reportedly don’t want to risk losing their skipper for free in 2026 when his contract runs out.
Reports in Spain even suggest Barcelona and Real Madrid are monitoring him. That means United may need to move quickly if they are serious about hijacking the race.
Liverpool are unlikely to return in January, preferring to wait until next summer when a free transfer becomes possible. That leaves an opening for United — but also a risk that the chance could slip away if they hesitate. For a defender praised for his leadership and composure, the bidding may not stay quiet for long.
