Dylan Moore almost couldn’t have had a worse ending to his time with the Seattle Mariners.
The once-solid utility man couldn’t buy a hit, and the Mariners let him go before he was claimed by the Texas Rangers.
And now, Moore is starring for the Rangers. It’s inexplicable.
That ending with Seattle was a 2-for-43 spell. Between June 20 and Aug. 20, the Mariners didn’t even play Moore all that much. But in that span, he made 41 outs compared to just two hits.
Seattle couldn’t keep him any longer, but the Rangers picked him up and had him on the field by Aug. 29.

And with Texas, Moore has a .313 batting average and .982 OPS.
Moore homered on Friday night, too.
It’s an inexplicable turnaround.
Sure, Moore had been a better hitter in his MLB career than he showed in that ice cold stretch.
But by the same token, he was clearly in a rut. Maybe he was starting to be washed up.
Not now, though. Moore looks like he can handle big league pitching as good or better than he ever did.
Sure, it’s a much smaller sample size. But the Rangers will take it as they try to chase down the Mariners in the wild card or even in the AL West.
It’d be the greatest of ironies if Moore helped make that happen.
