The Vegas Golden Knights’ Jack Eichel is coming off a career year this past season, amassing 28 goals and 66 assists for 94 points in 77 games.
After an up and down 6 year tenure with the Buffalo Sabres, Eichel has fit in like a glove in Vegas over these past 4 years. This culminated in a Stanley Cup Championship with the franchise in 2023, in which arguably no player was more important to that run.
As Eichel enters the final year of his current $10 million deal with the club, he recently shared his mindset heading into a contract season during the NHL media tour this week.
What did Eichel have to say about impending contract extension?
Like many top 2026 UFA players in his position, Jack brushed off concerns over going into this season without an extension in place. Eichel’s focus remains on the season ahead as he commented “it’s business as usual.”
Eichel will have an opportunity to enjoy another lucrative season this year with the arrival of new 100 point player Mitch Marner on his wing. The timing could not be better for Eichel as he will have an ideal situation in order to have the best season possible on what should be a contending team.
It will be curious to see when the Eichel deal gets done and what that contract looks like. Insiders such as Elliotte Friedman have speculated a valuation that will come in around $13-14 million. Vegas will have to work wonders to make this extension fit in their books, Eichel will be motivated to make bank with his performance on the ice.
