The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears have a grand total of two players ruled out, three questionable and another two doubtful ahead of their Week 2 game at Ford Field on Sunday afternoon.
The one player ruled out for the Lions is linebacker Trevor Nowaske (elbow), who is set to miss his second straight game. Running back Sione Vaki (hamstring) is listed as doubtful, so it looks like he’ll miss his second straight game, also.
The two players listed as questionable in Detroit are safety Kerby Joseph (knee) and left tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder). Joseph was a surprise addition to the injury report on Friday and was limited, but information is scarce on his status.
Decker had been on the injury report all week with his shoulder issue and did not take part in practice at all during the week. Head coach Dan Campbell said that Decker will play if he feels healthy enough to do so.
“Well, he’s got a little bit of something here, and so we’re just trying to buy him some time here to where he feels better,” Campbell said of Decker. “And then, a lot of it, too, is the luxury of — Decker’s played a lot of football. And so he’ll be ready as long as it feels right. So, we feel good right now. And there, again, we’ve still got another day here and we’ll see. So, I can’t give a definitive yes, but it’s where it’s at.”
For the Bears, they will see the return of cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who was ruled out just before kickoff last week with calf and groin injuries. Chicago will not have fellow corner Kyler Gordon (hamstring), though, as he has been ruled out for the second consecutive game with a hamstring injury. He did not practice all week.
Bears wide receiver Jahdae Walker (ankle) is doubtful and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (knee) is questionable. Jarrett was upgraded to a limited practice on Friday after not taking part the two days prior, which gives him a chance to play.
