Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland lineups: Predicted starting XI, team news, injury latest as in-form Eagles make Premier League return

Saturday’s Premier League schedule features in-form Crystal Palace hosting Sunderland.

Oliver Glasner’s hosts have been excellent in the opening weeks of the campaign, starting with an FA Community Shield win over Liverpool on penalties.

The Eagles followed that up with qualification for the league phase of the UEFA Conference League plus five points gained from three unbeaten league games in 2025/26.

Visitors Sunderland have also impressed on their top-flight return with two home wins against West Ham United and Brentford either side of defeat at Burnley.

The coming weeks will be a real test for Glasner as he battles against a growing injury list and seeks to keep captain Marc Guehi onside.

Guehi was denied a deadline-day move to Liverpool, and the England international is not expected to sign a contract extension beyond next summer.

However, the 25-year-old has been consistently praised for his professionalism over the exit saga and should continue as the Eagles’ leader.

Adam Wharton remains out due to a groin strain and Ismaila Sarr is sidelined for two weeks with a thigh muscle tear. Eddie Nketiah is also not ready to return, but Glasner said there is a “good chance” that new signing Yeremy Pino makes his first start.

Crystal Palace predicted starting XI (3-4-3, right to left): Henderson (GK) — Richards, Lacroix, Guehi — Munoz, Hughes, Lerma, Mitchell — Devenny, Mateta, Pino

Injured: Riad (knee), Doucoure (knee), Nketiah (thigh), Sarr (thigh), Wharton (groin), Franca (groin), Edouard (Achilles), Kporha (back)
Suspended: None

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris is only expected to make minor tweaks to the starting team that sealed a late 2-1 win over Brentford last time out.

Wilson Isidor came off the bench to net the winner and could be drafted in to replace Chemsdine Talbi.

The Black Cats are still without several key names through injury as Daniel Ballard and Luke O’Nien stay sidelined.

Sunderland predicted starting XI (4-3-3, right to left): Roefs (GK) — Hume, Mukiele, Alderete, Mandava — Diarra, Xhaka, Sadiki — Isidor, Mayenda, Le Fee

Injured: Mundle (thigh), Hjelde (calf), Ballard (groin), Huggins (groin), O’Nien (shoulder), Cirkin (hand), Alese (shoulder)
Suspended: None
