Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford announcers: Meet Netflix’s broadcast team for the 2025 boxing fight

On Saturday night, Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford go head-to-head for the undisputed super middleweight title.

The two stars will meet at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with Netflix broadcasting the highly anticipated boxing event to fans at home, just as it has for other major events like Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson.

Once again, Netflix is set to roll out a notable list of broadcasters to provide commentary and analysis on Álvarez vs. Crawford.

Here’s what to know about the full Netflix broadcast crew for Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford.

Play-by-play: Jon Anik

Leading a three-person commentary crew will be Jon Anik, the longtime UFC commentator.

Anik began his broadcasting career with ESPN, then began doing play-by-play for UFC in 2012. He’s been re-signed by UFC multiple times since then as one of the premiere voices of the organization.

Analyst: Max Kellerman

Famed fighting analyst and American sports TV personality Max Kellerman will be joining the Netflix crew.

Kellerman has a long history in the boxing world, from starting on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights in the ’90s to working with HBO for years as a boxing analyst. He is also well-known for hosting Around the Horn, co-hosting ESPN’s First Take, and hosting This Just In with Max Kellerman, Max & Marcellus, and more.

The Álvarez vs. Crawford event will be Kellerman’s first broadcasting appearance since his departure from ESPN in 2023.

Analyst: Andre Ward

Andre Ward, an International Boxing Hall of Famer, returns to Netflix as an analyst. Ward’s boxing career lasted from 2004 to 2017. He retired with an undefeated record and held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including unified super middleweight titles from 2009 to 2015 and unified light heavyweight titles from 2016 to 2017.

The 2021 Hall of Fame inductee has become a broadcaster for ESPN and Netflix in the years since retiring from the sport. He has also appeared on other media platforms as a boxing analyst, including podcasts.

Ring announcer: Michael Buffer

Legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer will be on Netflix’s main card Saturday.

Famous for his “Let’s get ready to rumble!” catchphrase, the International Sports Hall of Famer began his career as a ring announcer in 1982 and has become one of the most recognizable figures in the sport.

Ring announcer: Joe Martinez

While Buffer is on the main card, it will be Joe Martinez who handles the ring announcer duties for the preliminary card.

Also a veteran in ring announcing, Martinez has been known for having worked with mixed martial arts promotions Invicta FC and the UFC.

Reporter: Jim Gray

Netflix will have two reporters on its broadcast for Álvarez vs. Crawford. One is Jim Gray, an Emmy Award-winning journalist who works with Showtime, Fox, and SiriusXM in various roles.

Gray is also the author of Talking to GOATs: The Moments You Remember and the Stories You Never Heard and the host of the Let’s Go! radio show and podcast on SiriusXM with Tom Brady and Larry Fitzgerald. He has worked more than 1,200 world boxing championship fights.

Gray was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame with the class of 2018 and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.

Reporter: Heidi Androl

The other reporter on-site for Netflix will be Heidi Androl, who currently serves as a host on NHL Network and for the UFC.

Desk host: Mario Lopez

Netflix’s desk team will be led by TV personality, actor and host Mario Lopez. He is well-known for his work on “Dancing With The Stars” and as a host for entertainment news shows like “Extra” and “Access Hollywood.”

Lopez is also a known boxing enthusiast and hosts a boxing podcast, “The 3 Knockdown Rule.”

Desk analyst: Antonio Tarver

Former light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver will be an analyst on the desk. Tarver competed from 1997 to 2015 and is the only boxer in history to win gold at the Pan Am Games, World Championships, and U.S. Nationals all in the same year.

Tarver has worked as an analyst on Showtime Championship Boxing and as a co-host on Friday Night Fights.

Desk analyst: Mark Kriegel

Another analyst alongside Tarver and Lopez will be Mark Kriegel, a longtime boxing writer and analyst. 

Kriegel has been an analyst and essayist for ESPN since 2017. In 2022, he was the recipient of the Boxing Writers Association of America’s Nat Fleischer Award for Excellence in Boxing Journalism.

Desk analyst: Mike Coppinger

Rounding out the desk for Netflix will be Mike Coppinger, a senior boxing insider for Ring Magazine. He’s covered boxing since 2010 for various outlets, winning awards for his investigative reporting.

Coppinger joined Ring in April 2025.

Unofficial scorer, coaching analyst: Skipper Kelp

Serving as a coaching analyst and an unofficial scorer for the broadcast will be Skipper Kelp, a trainer and former boxer.
