After the Chicago Bulls reached an agreement with point guard Josh Giddey, backcourt partner and soon-to-be free agent Coby White has made his contract demands clear.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, White is seeking more than $30 million per year on his next contract. White is currently under contract with the Bulls until the end of the 2025-26 season, having signed a three-year, $36 million extension after playing out his rookie deal in Chicago.
While White’s demands may seem steep, the former UNC Tarheel has been a bright spot for Chicago in his last two seasons.
Last year for the Bulls, White averaged a career-high 20.4 points as well as 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds. White’s finishing and shot selection improved, as he posted a career-high 54.4% on two-point field goals.
Although White is hopeful for a big pay-day from his current team, his next contract likely hinges on his performance this season.
Having extended Josh Giddey already, Chicago will have plenty of decisions to make heading into the 2026 offseason. Along with White, Kevin Huerter, Nikola Vucevic, Jevon Carter and Ayo Dosunmu are all free agents after this season as well.
With all of these expiring deals, the Bulls are projected to have around $70 million in cap space at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. This figure would put them amongst the teams with the most cap space available.
Despite White’s strong play, the Bulls may opt to move on if his price tag climbs too high in favor of pursuing other marquee names.
