Mock trade sees Pittsburgh Steelers land 8-time Pro Bowler from Miami Dolphins

It appears like Tyreek Hill’s day with the Miami Dolphins are numbered.

The veteran wide receiver has been rumored to be on the outs since his awkward end of the season with the team last year. This summer, Hill seemed to go back and forth on whether he was happy in Miami, and nobody really knows what the receiver is thinking.

However, the Dolphins had a horrendous opening game against the Indianapolis Colts and the season could easily go downhill quickly. The Dolphins lost 33-8 and looked completely inept on offense, and Hill caught four passes for 40 yards.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report recently identified the top trade targets in the league, and Hill made the cut. Knox identified the Pittsburgh Steelers as a logical landing spot if the Dolphins do plan on making a move.

The Steelers added D.K. Metcalf this offseason, and Metcalf impressed in his Week 1 debut. However, none of the other receivers stood out, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team add another weapon.

Here’s what Knox’s projected deal between the Steelers and Dolphins looks like:

  • Dolphins receive: Conditional 2026 3rd-Round Pick
  • Steelers receive: WR Tyreek Hill

On the surface, it seems like the Steelers should definitely do this deal. Hill is an eight-time Pro Bowler, a five-time First-team All-Pro, and a Super Bowl champion. When at his best, Hill is among the best pass-catchers in the league, and he could help elevate the Steelers’ offense to new heights.

Considering Hill has been openly unhappy recently, it would not be surprising to see the team move on, especially if the losses pile up.

If the Steelers traded for Hill, they’d have him under contract through the 2026 season. Hill is slated to be a free agent in 2027 when he will be 33 years old.

Even though Hill is on the other side of 30 now, he still has the talent to change an offense. 2024 was the worst season of Hill’s career since his rookie season way back in 2016, but that can’t necessarily be pinned all on him.

While 2024 was a bad season by Hill’s standards, the veteran still caught 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns. That was with starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missing six games and the offensive line struggling mightily.

The NFL trade deadline will be on the Tuesday following the Week 9 slate of games. It’s only Week 2, so much could change between now and then, but it’s hard to see a scenario where Hill remains on the Dolphins past this date.
