Lions’ Pro Bowl star gets rough injury update that puts Week 2 bounceback in jeopardy

The Detroit Lions can’t afford to slip up again in Week 2 after a tough loss to the Green Bay Packers.

They got some bad news for their cause on Wednesday with their initial injury report.

Their Pro Bowl left tackle, Taylor Decker, did not participate in Wednesday’s practice due to a shoulder injury.

“Just got some stuff that I’m dealing with,” Decker said, via Eric Woodyard of ESPN.

One option for the Lions, per Pro Football Talk, would be to move superstar right tackle Penei Sewell to the left side if Decker is out.

Detroit had one other player not take part in Wednesday’s practice at all. That was linebacker Jack Campbell, who has an ankle issue.

Two players were limited: another linebacker, Trevor Nowaske (elbow), along with RB and special teams player Sione Vaki (hamstring).

The Lions listed two players on the report with injuries who were full participants in practice: cornerback Terrion Arnold (groin) and safety Daniel Thomas (hand).

Detroit is home against the Chicago Bears on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Bears will also be looking for their first win, so it’s a crucial contest to ensure one team doesn’t fall too far behind in the NFC North race.
