Perhaps few names in the NHL will have as much of a spotlight placed upon them this year as the bright one that will be shined on Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard.
The 3rd year center is heading into a contract year with heavy expectations expected out of the 2024 Calder winner. Bedard did not have the sophomore year last season that the Hawks wanted to see, but both sides are optimistic a stronger 3rd go around is on the precipice.
As Frank Seravalli recently provided the latest in regards to where the Blackhawks and Connor Bedard are at in contract extension talks, insider Pierre LeBrun shared a further update last night as he met up with the Chicago star’s team at the NHL player media tour.
Bedard comments on extension talks
Connor stated that he is “pretty chilled” about the impending contract extension and that there is a want on both sides to get a deal done over time. With that said, the camps remain content on not rushing the process as it appears this will be a next summer decision rather than an imminent one.
Bedard and the Hawks are clearly dialed in on the season ahead in what Hawks fans will be the start of a climb out of a long rebuilding process in Chicago. Time will tell what the Bedard contract extension looks like regarding term and value, the 20 year old has the potential to make major bank depending on his performance in this campaign.
