The original assumption was that, if Philadelphia Eagles star defensive tackle Jalen Carter was going to be suspended, it was going to happen on Monday.
He had been ejected Thursday night for spitting on Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott before a defensive snap was played. With the league office back on hand Monday, and an appeal process to potentially play out, action was figured to happen quickly.
But no news on a suspension or fine came from the league on Monday.
It doesn’t mean it’s over, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio.

Is Jalen Carter suspended?
Jalen Carter is not suspended, yet.
But the door is still open as of Tuesday morning.
Florio writes: “Per a source with knowledge of the situation, however, a suspension is still on the table. We’re also told that the decision is currently being finalized.”
Carter essentially served a one-game suspension already by being ejected before a defensive snap was taken on Thursday night.
Florio thinks that the NFL may instead opt to fine Carter $57,222, the equivalent of a game check.

It’s important that this gets resolved sometime soon. The Eagles have another massive spotlight game this weekend.
On Sunday, the Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s a rematch of the Super Bowl, which Philly won in convincing fashion in February.
And it’s not yet clear whether Carter will be available.
