The Detroit Lions are racing quickly toward a crucial Week 2, and it’s just as big for their opponent, the Chicago Bears.
Detroit is coming off a humbling season-opening loss to their NFC North rival Green Bay Packers. The Bears also have a divisional loss under their belts, on Monday night as the Minnesota Vikings rallied past them.
That pits two 0-1 teams with big goals against one another in Week 2.
The Sporting News power rankings, put together by Vinnie Iyer, have both teams down a notch from his initial slots.

He has the Lions at No. 10, down from No. 6.
“The Lions fell apart offensively without Ben Johnson, wasting a strong all-around defensive effort in Green Bay before they didn’t gat any complementary help,” Iyer writes. “They must pick up those pieces fast vs. Johnson’s Bears in Week 2.”
Yep, it’s a bit of a revenge game for new Chicago head coach Ben Johnson in Week 2 after he was the Lions’ star offensive coordinator.

The Bears took a bigger plunge, down to No. 21 from 14.
“The Bears blew a big chance and a lead on Monday night as their offense was working out the kinks with Caleb Williams under Ben Johnson,” Iyer writes. “They should be concerned most with the late defensive meltdown vs. Minnesota.”
The Vikings scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, two thrown by J.J. McCarthy and the other run in by him.
Whoever solves their issues faster will have a chance at not falling too far behind in the NFC North race.
