Cubs make Kyle Tucker IL announcement ahead of Braves game

It has been a tough few days for the Chicago Cubs and their outfielders. On September 2, Kyle Tucker sustained a calf injury after hitting a home run in a game against the Atlanta Braves. A few days later, Pete Crow-Armstrong fouled a ball off his knee.

Fortunately, PCA returned to the lineup on Monday and is back in the lineup on Tuesday for the second game of their three-game series against the Braves. However, the same cannot be said about Tucker.

The team announced Tucker’s move to the 10-day IL, retroactive to September 6. The move allows Tucker to return as early as September 16. In a corresponding move, the club called up Moises Ballesteros from Triple-A.

Kyle Tucker’s absence has had a deep impact on the Cubs

Kyle Tucker has now missed five games going into Tuesday’s game against the Braves. During that span, the Cubs have gone 1-4. In their four losses, they have tallied a combined six runs.

All in all, this is not the time for Chicago to lose one of its most productive offensive players. Across 133 games, Tucker has hit .270/.381/.472 with 22 home runs, 73 runs batted in, and 25 steals, being picked as an All-Star for the fourth straight season.

If the Cubs want to make a deep run in the postseason this year, Tucker is going to be one of the players to take them there. He must get healthy and return to the lineup as soon as possible and get this team rolling again.
