Arsenal have been one of the biggest spenders in the transfer market this summer as they have filled multiple holes in their roster to challenge for the Premier League title.
The Gunners haven’t had many player sales but on deadline day they have decided to let go off their surplus players, allowing them to move on loan.
As per reports via Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV have shown interest in signing Arsenal’s Fabio Vieira on loan.
The Portuguese attacking midfielder is not in Mikel Arteta’s plans and therefore he was keen to move on rather than convincing the Spanish manager.
Hamburger have been desperate to freshen up their roster and the addition of Vieira will definitely add more flair and creativity in the final third.
They reportedly have an option to buy the midfielder after he completes his loan tenure for a deal worth more than €20m ($23.4m).

Interestingly, Vieira isn’t the only Arsenal moving to Hamburger as the Bundesliga outfit are also on the verge of signing defensive midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The Belgian has completed his medical and has reportedly moved to the Bundesliga outfit on a permanent basis unlike his Portuguese counterpart.
What will Vieira bring to this Hamburger team?
Vieira joined Arsenal in 2022 from FC Porto for €35m ($41m) plus add-ons and the Gunners had high hopes from the Portuguese midfielder.
He featured in 33 matches in his debut season for the North London outfit across all competitions, netting two goals.
However, his matches were slashed in half in the following campaign as he played only16 games and scored a solitary goal.
Ahead of the 2024/25 season, Arsenal decided to loan him to Porto where he enjoyed some sort of redemption as he featured in 42 games and netted five goals.
Despite his best efforts, he failed to cement his spot in the Arsenal roster and also couldn’t convince Arteta of his skillset and talent.
But his loan stint at Porto was enough for Hamburger to push for the 25-year-old as he will bring creativity, dribbling, line breaking passes and ball retention to their midfield.
As per Fbref, Vieira averaged 4.74 shot-creating actions, 6.07 progressive passes, 1.76 tackles coupled with 79.2% passing accuracy per 90 minutes.
The 25-year-old will look to give his best and earn Hamburger manager Merlin Polzin’s trust especially after their slow start in the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign.
