The Boston Red Sox weren’t able to figure out how to use Walker Buehler, and ultimately, they decided to waive him.
Days later, another team is ready to give him a chance. According to Jeff Passan, the Philadelphia Phillies are finalizing a deal with Buehler to have him in their rotation as the postseason comes around.

“Right-hander Walker Buehler and the Philadelphia Phillies are finalizing a deal, sources tell ESPN. Buehler was released by the Red Sox and will be eligible to play in the postseason for the Phillies,” Passan revealed.
This season has been less than adequate for Buehler. With the Red Sox, he posted a 7-7 record, an ERA of 5.45, and a WHIP of 1.558 in 112 innings pitched. The Phillies are going out on a limb in taking the man, but they must have an idea of how to fix him.

It also makes sense for them to get him as they lost one of their Cy Young contenders in Zack Wheeler, who is out for the season with blood clots.
Hopefully Buehler performs for them, as he is a quality pitcher, he just needs to find himself once again after his second Tommy John surgery. Also, if the Phillies want to win, they better fix something in his arsenal, otherwise they might just get what the Red Sox got out of him.
