Chelsea have agreed a £40m [$50m] deal with Manchester United to sign Alejandro Garnacho with the winger to have his medical today [August 29].
Reportedly, the deal also includes a 10% sell-on clause after Man United moved Chelsea up from an initial £25m [$33m] offer after weeks of negotiations.
Garnacho had been pushing for a move since being told by Ruben Amorim at the end of last season to find a new club.
He turned down other suitors and made clear his priority was Stamford Bridge. United reportedly valued him at £50m [$67m] but accepted a compromise, seeing this as both pragmatic and financially savvy.
The Argentina international, who joined United’s academy from Atletico Madrid in 2020, had fallen out of Amorim’s plans.
Reportedly, he was training alone with the other outcasts and was left out of the club’s summer US tour.
His last appearance was in May’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham after which he questioned Amorim’s selection.
