PSG’s shrinking squad has a new departure with Spanish goalkeeper Arnau Tenas completing a permanent move to Villarreal.
The 24-year-old leaves the French champions for a reported €6m [$7m] fee, according to Le Parisen, signing a four-year deal with Marcelino’s side that will play in the Champions League this season.
Tenas arrived in Paris from Barcelona in July 2023 after more than a decade at La Masia, where he captained the reserve team and earned regular senior call-ups.
But the former La Masia product faced an uphill battle for minutes behind Gianluigi Donnarumma, with Matvey Safonov, Lucas Chevalier and Renato Marin later added to the club’s goalkeeper ranks.
Even so, he featured six times in Ligue 1 and helped the team secure a treble of Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Champions League last season.
His exit adds to a growing list of departures from Luis Enrique’s squad. Midfielder Carlos Soler, signed from Valencia in 2022, is set to join Real Sociedad after PSG reportedly accepted a final offer on Wednesday [August 27]
That move, an initial loan with a buy option, comes after Soler’s mixed spell that included 33 games for West Ham.
Other departures include Milan Skriniar, Nordi Mukiele and Renato Sanches.
