The Boston Red Sox are having the best season in years, and there are some things reflecting that. One of which is viewership.
The Red Sox’ viewership has skyrocketed this season, as seen on their broadcast network, the New England Sports Network, commonly known as NESN. NESN announced that the Sox are having their highest viewership since 2021, when the Sox were also a Wildcard team, and were a couple games away from a World Series appearance.

NESN also revealed that the Sox’ ratings were up 46% on the year, and subscriptions to their streaming app, NESN 360, were up 111%. Six of NESN 360’s top 10 performing games came from only this August as well.
Getting into more specifics, the Sox’ highest rated game in three years came from Friday’s showdown against their rival, the New York Yankees, which they won 1-0.

What the Sox need to pull from this is that if they build a winning team, fans will pay to watch. After years of mediocrity, the Sox have finally fielded another playoff contender, and lo-and-behold, they get their highest viewership ratings since the last time they were a contender.
Hopefully this tells the Sox front office no more years of just scraping by with a .500 record, and that they will get the funds they need if they just create a playoff team. A deep run into the postseason couldn’t hurt either.
