Barcelona set to communicate final decision to UEFA: They will play in the Camp Nou

Barcelona have had a few issues figuring out where they will play this year in both La Liga and the Champions League. The Camp Nou was said to have been ready to play in by now, but getting the licensing and approvals have been a struggle.

For La Liga, they could return to the Camp Nou at any time but UEFA has a set deadline for when a club has to announce where they will play for the group stage.

Now it seems like Barcelona finally have an answer to give UEFA two days before the deadline.

Camp Nou Return

According to Sport, Barcelona are set to communicate to UEFA that they plan to play the Champions League group stage at the Camp Nou but will continue to communicate with UEFA if anything changes.

Barcelona will need to get Phase 1B approved to make this happen as the Phase 1A certification that they have will not comply with UEFA regulations.

This would see the Camp Nou at a capacity of 47,000 but again nothing is finalized.

In case something happens to change this, at least Barcelona have already come to an agreement with Montjuic to keep the stadium as a backup plan.

Barcelona will also be hoping for some help this Thursday during the Champions League draw. Having their first Champions League game be away from home would give them two extra weeks to have the Camp Nou ready in time.

We will see what ends up happening, but Barcelona seem to believe that a Camp Nou return is coming.
