Cutting down to 53 players is difficult for every NFL team. The Denver Broncos were no exception this year, having to part with some really good football players.
But that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the line. In today’s NFL, the practice squad can be extremely important for development, and it’s where teams can stash some of that untapped potential. The Broncos let go of several players on Monday and Tuesday that need to be back if the team can swing it. How can they swing it? Well, first, they have to wait for waivers to process. All 31 other NFL teams will get a crack at signing players who were dropped for up to 24 hours. If a player was not claimed by another team, his original team can bring him back to the practice squad.
This is the official waiver wire order for all players who’ve been waived.
Teams have until tomorrow to place a claim. News will start trickling in around 12 PM ET.

That will be the hope for the Broncos with these six players.
Denver Broncos practice squad must-haves
Blake Watson, RB
Blake Watson had to be one of the Broncos’ toughest cuts, but it was hard to crack the running back room this year. Reportedly, the team wants him back.
Clay Webb, OL
He’s raw, but the potential is sky high. The Broncos have a deep group of offensive linemen, but there is a future for Clay Webb in the NFL.
Joaquin Davis, WR
Joaquin Davis has the prototypical size to play wide receiver at the professional level; he was just buried behind a talented group. There is a possibility another team snags him, but he should be brought back immediately if not.
Levelle Bailey, LB
It’s still difficult to believe the Broncos went with Karene Reid in favor of Levelle Bailey in their final roster moves, but there was apparently a perceived high demand for Reid if he was let go. Perhaps the Broncos felt Bailey had a better chance to slip through the cracks of the waiver wire?
Calvin Throckmorton, OL
Calvin Throckmorton is a veteran lineman who can still play at a high level. The Broncos could use some more experience as their offensive line is solid, but the depth is young behind the starters. Throckmorton can be an instant plug-and-play at guard or center on gamedays.

Courtney Jackson, WR
Easily the most upsetting cut the Broncos made was Courtney Jackson, who was outstanding this summer. The Broncos had settled on just five wide receivers, but Jackson should be the first player added to the practice squad if that opportunity presents itself. But after the way it looked this preseason, it would be a bit surprising if another team didn’t grab him first.
