Nike upset with Barcelona kit problems

Barcelona have been unable to use any of their new kits this season as La Liga had deemed that all three kits clashed with their opponents’ jerseys.

According to Sport, Nike have not been happy with this as their new kit design for the biggest club they sponsor has yet to be displayed in a competitive match this season.

Nike are not mad at Barcelona directly as they know it’s not any wrongdoing by the Catalan club but are upset that it has been two weeks wasted with no showing of their new product.

La Liga’s Regulations

Barcelona have been forced to use their green kits from last season as La Liga has an app for kit submissions called “Kit Selector” which reviews kits and approves them to make sure they don’t clash.

This technology has come into question as Barcelona’s orange third kit was said to clash with Levante’s home kit despite the same color clash being allowed ten years earlier.

Barcelona and Nike may have less issues if they used alternate shorts with their away kit as many clubs use black shorts around La Liga. Real Madrid for example, used their second kit’s shorts with their home jersey to prevent clashing with Real Oviedo’s white shorts.

Despite this option, it seems Barcelona are hesitant to use one of their other kit shorts as none of them really combine with their other jerseys that well so they preferred to opt for last season’s kit.

Either way, Barcelona are expected to debut their new home kit in their next game against Rayo Vallecano.
