Browns name ‘Donovan Mitchell’ to roster in Cleveland mishap that fires up NBA star

Typos are a part of life.

This one just so happened to be extra fun.

The Cleveland Browns cut down their roster to 53 players on Tuesday ahead of the NFL’s cutdown deadline.

As the decisions were made, well-respected beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com was sharing the news as it came on X.

In one of her posts, she wrote up the undrafted players who had made the Browns.

One name she wrote: “S Donovan Mitchell.”

That drew notice from the Cleveland Cavaliers’ star of that name:

One problem: The player who made the team isn’t named Donovan Mitchell.

His name is actually Donovan McMillan. Autocorrect may have been the culprit here.

McMillon did very well to overcome the odds and make the Browns as an undrafted free agent.

He was a talented recruit who began his college career with two seasons at Florida with very limited production.

He transferred to Pittsburgh for the 2023 season and had two awesome seasons for the Panthers.

In 2023 at Pitt, McMillon had 105 tackles. Then in 2024, he put up 115 tackles and an interception.

He’ll be a depth safety to start off in Cleveland, but he’s got college production that suggests he might be a prolific tackler if given the chance.

And he’ll surely have NBA superstar Donovan Mitchell in his corner.
