Red Sox’s Aroldis Chapman is producing video-game numbers in his last 30 appearances

After starting the season 40-43, the Red Sox have since won 31 out of 48 games.

They have moved into excellent playoff positioning, currently holding the top wild-card spot.

It’s a pretty good spot to be in, considering they had a record under .500 as recently as July 4.

One player who’s played a role in closing out games and wins for the Red Sox has been Aroldis Chapman, who has produced career-year stats this season, all at age 37.

Chapman has been unstoppable since June

There have been very few players as good as Aroldis Chapman this summer.

Since Jun. 1, Chapman has appeared in 30 games and has pitched 27.0 innings.

In that stretch, his ERA is 0.33 (via StatMuse). Chapman has let up just one earned run in his 30 appearances since Jun. 1.

He’s also struck out 39 batters and has recorded 16 saves in that stretch. Not too bad at all for a player pitching in his 16th year. His ERA has cut down from an already impressive 1.88 to 1.08 since Jun. 1.

He’s well on pace to beat his previous career best ERA, which was 1.51 with the Reds in 2012.

The Red Sox still have a lot of work to do in the next month-plus, as they are far from safe when it comes to making the playoffs and/or maintaining good playoff seeding.

There seems to be a correlation between Red Sox wins and Chapman playing well, so if Chapman continues to play his role, the Red Sox should find themselves in the postseason for the first time since 2021.
