No one expected this season out of Trent Grisham.
The New York Yankees knew they had a speedy centerfielder with sneaky pop from the left side of the plate, but they didn’t know they had such a potent slugger.
Grisham left the yard twice on Sunday night in a key win over the Boston Red Sox.
It was Grisham’s fourth multi-homer game of the season, which is astounding.

It also ties two seasons of Mickey Mantle and one season of Joe DiMaggio among the best multi-HR seasons ever for Yankees centerfielders, with time for Grisham to continue moving up the list.
Yankees CF most multi-HR games in a season
8 Mickey Mantle 1961
7 Mickey Mantle 1956
7 Aaron Judge 2022
6 Joe DiMaggio 1948
5 Joe DiMaggio 1937
4 Joe DiMaggio 1939
4 Mickey Mantle 1955
4 Mickey Mantle 1960
4 Curtis Granderson 2011
4 Trent Grisham 2025— New York Yankees Stats (@nyyankeesstats) August 25, 2025
Grisham is now up to 25 home runs on the season in 113 games.
Previously, the most he had ever hit in a season was 17 for the Padres in 2022, when he appeared in 152 games.
This Grisham production is ridiculous, and he’s also contending to beat his career-high batting average of .251.
Maybe it’s in the mustache, which Grisham is rocking exquisitely.
Maybe it’s in the short porch at Yankee Stadium.

Or maybe it’s just the case of a 28-year old, former first round pick finally unlocking something at the MLB level.
Perhaps it’s a combination of all those factors, but the Yankees won’t care much about the cause. They’re loving the effect.
