There’s no one like Giancarlo Stanton.
That’s easy enough to quantify among active baseball players, but there’s a decent chance there’s never been another MLB slugger quite like the New York Yankees’ masher.
Stanton hits the ball harder than anyone in baseball, and with some consistency.
On Sunday night, for example, Stanton ripped a double against the Boston Red Sox at 117.8 miles per hour.

According to MLB Network’s Sarah Langs, it was the 99th batted ball of Stanton’s career since Statcast began in 2015 (including playoffs) that left the bat at at least 117 miles per hour.
Langs writes that no one is within even one-third of Stanton.
The next highest total on that list is 30, by Oneil Cruz (who to be fair made his big league debut a long way after 2015).
Still, Stanton is remarkable.
The way he hits lasers that seem to be unaffected by gravity remains an incredible sight to watch for a baseball fan.

Stanton’s homers often are the definition of frozen ropes.
But even when they don’t leave the yard, and they’re just doubles like Stanton had on Sunday night, they’re still blisteringly fast.
He’s that strong and that special with his hands and wrists. Stanton makes potent contact, and even as he has aged, that hasn’t changed much.
The Yankees hope it doesn’t change for a long time still to come.
