In a press conference ahead of the game against Real Oviedo, Xabi Alonso was asked about the criticism that the Brazilian winger has been receiving based on his recent performances.
The Real Madrid manager defended Vinicius Jr. and believes he is in a good mindset at the moment.

When asked if Vinicius Jr. may be struggling at Real Madrid, Alonso was quick to defend his player and gave fans hope that the player will find the form that almost led to a Ballon d’Or award.
Xabi Alonso: “I see him doing well, we’ve had very little time this season. So little time has passed, aside from the Club World Cup, that I see him doing well. We’re just starting, and everyone is very eager. They’re all in a very good mindset.”
Vinicius Jr. played in all six Real Madrid games in the Club World Cup this summer only contributed to two goals. Expectations on the Brazilian player are high due to his performances over the last few years.
