The San Francisco 49ers need help at wide receiver with the injuries to the unit. As a result, they made a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs to land Skyy Moore, but one NFL insider isn’t sold on the new 49ers wideout making an impact.
San Francisco’s wide receiver corps has been hit hard by injuries. Brandon Aiyuk is recovering from a knee injury, Jauan Jennings has been limited by a calf issue, Jordan Watkins is sidelined with a high-ankle sprain, and DeMarcus Robinson is facing a three-game suspension.
Moore, a former second-round pick in 2022, does have the talent and perhaps could use a change of scenery to get his career on track. Nonetheless, NBC Sports’ Mike Florio is bullish about this happening in San Francisco.
Will Skyy Moore work with the 49ers?
On Thursday’s edition of “Pro Football Talk,” Florio stated that if Moore couldn’t make it work in Kansas City, what are the chances of the 24-year-old figuring it out with the 49ers.
“If this guy couldn’t break through in Kansas City, where he was in the system and he knew the playbook and he knew everything, he’s going to go in cold to San Francisco,” Florio said. “And I think for a receiver, it’s one of the most difficult positions…
“You’re walking into a system where the receivers and the quarterbacks already have a relationship, and they have a feel for how they run routes, the timing, the nuances, the hand signals… If you are the new guy you are going to be overwhelmed by that, so I don’t know if this is gonna work.”

In three NFL seasons, Moore has found it challenging in the NFL even though he came in with a lot of promise. He’s recorded 43 receptions for 494 receiving yards and one touchdown, so it will be interesting to see if the 49ers can get the potential out of him.
