Bayern Munich are in a jeopardy with their thin squad and injury problems heading into an extremely important 2025/26 season.
The Bavarians haven’t had the best transfer window securing only three signings including Tom Bischof, Jonathan Tah and Luis Diaz.
While the German champions need more signings this summer, the primary position that they need to address is the number 10 role after Jamal Musiala’s severe injury during the Club World Cup.
The 22-year-old will be on the sidelines for months and this puts Vincent Kompany is an extremely precarious position of choosing a player who could do a similar role until Musiala’s return.
Many people believed that Bayern would push for a new player to fill up that void, someone like a Xavi Simons but the Dutchman reportedly only wants to join Chelsea this summer.
With the club struggling to sign players, Kompany has hinted his plans for the number 10 role for the 2025/26 season in Bayern Munich’s DFL Supercup triumph over Stuttgart.

The Belgian used Michael Olise in behind Harry Kane with Serge Gnabry taking up the Frenchman’s usual right-wing role.
The Frenchman has played as a attacking midfielder at Crystal Palace and Kompany feels more aligned to this plan than using an inexperienced Bischof in an unlikely role.
When asked about Olise’s position, Kompany told German outlet Sport1, “It’s not about a position for the entire season. Michael played there at times last season too. When Jamal’s out, we have to find solutions.”
“Michael played there very often in England and for the national team. It’s a possibility. Some players can play in multiple positions, but the focus is always on the team. Speaking to Michael, we know that he feels comfortable in both positions [right wing and attacking midfield.”
Is Michael Olise the best bet for Bayern Munich for the number 10 role?
Olise was easily one of Bayern Munich’s best player last season as he returned with 20 goals and 20 assists from 43 appearances across all competitions.
He has looked settled in Bavaria and has quickly become a fan favourite at Alliance Arena due to his exceptional performances last season.
Thomas Muller has also nominated him for a leadership role in this team whilst drawing comparing with Franck Ribery.
Olise is known for technical ability, ball progression, close control and passing range, making him the ideal player to slot in for Musiala in a number 10 role.
Despite that, Bayern Munich need more signings in attack as they haven’t replaced star players like Muller and Kingsley Coman.
The integration of Lennart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare is a step in the right direction as both the players haven shown glimpses of talent in preseason, but the German champions still need signings to compete in the Champions League.
