Julian Alvarez entourage believe Atletico Madrid move was a ‘mistake’

Julian Alvarez has been an excellent signing for Atletico Madrid as the Argentine striker had 37 G/A across all competitions in his first season with the Colchoneros.

His price tag of 75 million euros raised some eyebrows, but the Argentine has put any doubt about that price tag to rest.

Now though, it seems like those around Julian feel like the move was a ‘mistake’ and they feel like they encouraged him to make the wrong move

A Mistake?

When Julian Alvarez left Manchester City, he left with the intention of being the starting striker for a team and gaining the recognition he believed his talents warranted. His entourage encouraged him to make the move to Atletico to get that recognition

The problem now though is even after making the switch to Atletico and scoring almost 30 goals in all competitions, he still feels underappreciated by his team.

He was often substituted in games despite playing well and would be moved to the left wing/side for the sole purpose of tracking back.

He believed that this season would be different but already in the first game of the season he was subbed off despite scoring Atletico’s only goal. Now, according to Matias Palacios on El Chiringuito TV, his entourage feel the move was a ‘mistake’

A Move Away?

As of now, there aren’t any links to any move away as Atletico are unlikely to let their star man go and his price tag would likely exceed 100 million.

He also has a contract until 2030 which gives the advantage to Atletico in any potential negotiations.

We’ve seen recently though with players like Isak who become unhappy at their clubs and go to extreme lengths to force a move. Something like the Isak situation could unfold if Julian continues to feel this way.
