The Vancouver Canucks are a team that is coming of a disappointing 24-25 campaign in which the club missed the playoffs after being a top team in the NHL the previous season. They are looking to bounce back this season and return to the postseason with a new look squad.
The Canucks potentially are not done making moves this summer as the organization is reportedly searching for increased center depth via The Athletic. Vancouver are interested in adding another middle 6 center to throw in the arsenal.
Jack Roslovic was one of the names that the Canucks were circling, but their interest in the center has cooled recently via Thomas Drance. This leaves the question at hand in regards to what players the Canucks are now eyeing as they appear to be more likely to add via the trade route versus free agency.
Why are the Canucks looking to add at center?
The Canucks center depth currently consists of Elias Pettersson, Filip Chytil, Aatu Raty and Teddy Blueger. Pettersson is coming off a struggle of a season last year, but the Canucks are hoping he will recover back into the top number 1 center he can be. After Pettersson, Vancouver’s center depth is suspect without a clear 2C. Their is a clear need of another formidable center to add to this rotation.
Vancouver has a little over $3 million in salary cap space to work with at the moment. We will see what, if anything, they do to add to their offensive attack as the 25-26 campaign closes in.
