Tottenham strike Eberechi Eze agreement but final step depends on Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur are moving closer to one of the biggest deals of the summer with Thomas Frank’s side on the brink of finalizing a move for Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who delivered 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances last season, has long been tracked by Spurs but only in recent days have talks advanced toward a breakthrough.

Club chairman Daniel Levy held face-to-face meetings with Palace counterpart Steve Parish on Monday [August 18], according to Fabrizio Romano, with a £55 million offer plus £5 million in add-ons presented as Tottenham’s proposal.

According to some reports, Eze has informed Palace of his desire to join Spurs and pursue Champions League football after lifting two domestic trophies with Oliver Glasner’s side.

According to senior football reporter Ben Jacobs – Tottenham have even reached an agreement in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Eze.

But also added that Palace want a replacement secured before allowing Eze to depart.

Palace have identified Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss and Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis as possible successors, according to the Athletic.

Eze have reportedly trained as usual this week and even featured in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea.

Should the deal close, Eze would become Tottenham’s seventh summer signing after Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, Luka Vuskovic, Kota Takai, and João Palhinha.

Spurs also explored a move for Manchester City’s Savinho, though that chase has cooled while focus remains on finalizing Eze’s switch.
