Bruins legend Milan Lucic making NHL comeback with new team

It seemed like Milan Lucic’s NHL career was over.

But that’s no longer the case for the former star of the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilrs and Los Angeles Kings.

Lucic is lined up to attend St. Louis Blues training camp on a professional tryout contract, GM Doug Armstrong told media.

The last time Lucic played in an NHL game was Oct. 21, 2023.

The Vancouver-born Lucic is now 37 years old.

Lucic entered the NHL way bcack in 2006 when the Bruins picked him No. 50 overall in the NHL Draft.

He spent the first eight years of his career with Boston.

In that time, Lucic won a Stanley Cup and was also an imposing two-way forward.

In those first eight Bruins seasons, Lucic scored 139 goals and dished out 203 assists.

He also had 1,580 hits and 202 blocked shots with the Bruins from 2007 through 2015.

From there, Lucic spent a season with the Kings, scoring 20 goals with 35 assists and 244 hits.

Three years in Edmonton came next, accounting for another 39 goals and 65 assists to go with 715 hits.

Then it was on to Calgary for four seasons, 35 goals, 48 assists and 714 hits.

Lucic concluded his career with four games back with Boston in October 2023 in which he notched a pair of assists and 12 hits.

Now, he’s trying to make it back into the league.

The Blues clearly wouldn’t mind his imposing veteran presence joining their roster to try and lead them in a good direction. First, Lucic will have to prove at training camp that he’s still got what it takes.
