Former Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr. may be on his way out of the Nation’s Capital. The NFL rumor mill has Robinson on the trading block.
Robinson will not participate in Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Robinson was a third-round draft pick of the Washington Commanders and has been productive during his time there.
He has rushed for over 2300 yards and 15 touchdowns, with his best season coming last year when he rushed for 799 yards and eight touchdowns.
Many wonder why such a productive running back like Robinson is being shopped around. It’s not that he’s a bad running back, but according to some, he doesn’t fit offensive coordinator’s Kliff Kingsbury offensive plans.
Another reason Robinson is on the trade block is the emergence of rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who was a fifth-round draft choice in this year’s draft.
So, where are good landing spots for him? Well, the Miami Dolphins announced Monday that running back De’Von Achane will be sidelined with a calf injury.
Robinson could go there and may compete for the starting position or, at worst, be Achane’s backup. He’d also be reunited with Bama boys Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle.
The Commanders may also be a good landing spot for Tyreek Hill, since the Commanders are in a contract dispute with their star wideout, Terry McLaurin.
Another team the Commanders may consider, but a bit far-fetched, is the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys running game could use a boost, but the Commanders may ask for a very high price to get Robison, meaning linebacker Micah Parsons, which Jerry Jones made very clear he’s not parting with any time soon.
But one thing is certain: this might be Brian Robinson Jr’s last night in a Commanders uniform.
