Freddy Peralta continues his case for 2025 National League Cy Young

Freddy Peralta has been as hot as the weather in the Midwest as of late. Peralta continued his Cy Young efforts with another strong outing on Monday. Peralta went six strong innings, allowing just a single hit and no runs. He struck out six batters and walked three in the game.

The win for Peralta pushed him to 15-5 on the season. His ERA is now down to 2.78 on the season. This was his third start in August, and he has tossed 17 innings, allowing just eight hits and a single run. During those outings, he has struck out 20 and walked 7.

His 15 wins are the most in the National League. Brandon Pfaadt and Nick Pivetta are next with 12, while Logan Webb and Sonny Gray have 11.

The Milwaukee Brewers pounded out nine hits in the game, with Bryce Turang, Caleb Durbin, Sal Frelick and Joey Ortiz all coming away with two of them. Turang’s 13th home run, a solo shot in the third inning, proved to be all the Brewers needed to beat the Chicago Cubs 7-0.

Milwaukee stayed red hot with the win and remains with just one loss the entire month of August. The Brewers are now 79-45 on the season. Chicago took a loss and snapped their two-game losing streak. The Cubs are now 70-54, and sit nine games back in the division.

The two teams will play the second game of the doubleheader on Monday night. Chad Patrick will get the start for Milwaukee.
