NHL Network unveils their Quarter Century team with some curious omissions

The NHL Network recently unveiled their Quarter Century team, sparking debate online due to some high caliber players left off the list. Of course only so many players can be chosen for a team of this nature, making it an exclusive club that is bound to have big names on the sidelines.

To warrant consideration for this list, the player must have made his NHL debut on January 1st, 2000 or later. The roster is as follows:

Forwards: Patrice Bergeron, Sidney Crosby, Pavel Datsyuk, Leon Draisaitl, Patrick Kane, Anze Kopitar, Nikita Kucherov, Nathan MacKinnon, Evgeni Malkin, Connor McDavid, Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos

Defense: Drew Doughty, Victor Hedman, Duncan Keith, Cale Makar, Alex Pietrangelo and Shea Weber

Goalies: Jonathan Quick and Andrej Vasilevskiy

Who are the biggest snubs?

The offensive front stirred the least controversy, but the biggest notable omissions that fans noticed were Jonathan Toews, Sacha Barkov, Henrik Zetterberg and the Sedin brothers: Henrik and Daniel.

The defensive front was a topic of massive debate with some huge stars left off, including Erik Karlsson, Brent Seabrook, Kris Letang and Ryan Suter.

The goalie selections caused the largest outcry with Henrik Lundqvist, Carey Price and Marc-Andre Fleury being the three that riled up hockey fandom the most.

What do you think about NHL Network’s list, did they get it right?
