New England Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Elliot Wolf is happy to fuel rumors that the AFC East squad will be looking to pull off a major trade in the days and weeks to come.
According to NBC Sports Boston Patriots insider Phil Perry, Wolf is not opposed to making a major trade before the start of the NFL season, as star players like Cincinnati’s Trey Hendrickson and Washington’s Terry McLaurin sit on the trade block.
Eliot Wolf says the Patriots would be willing to trade away a 1st or 2nd-round pick if it was best for the team.
Worth noting with big names out there still looking for deals.

Wolf seems eager to let it be known that the Pats are willing to meet the reported asking price for Hendrickson, who is apparently available for a 2026 first-round pick and a young defensive player, according to The Athletic NFL insider Dianna Russini.
Teams that have recently inquired about Bengals star Trey Hendrickson were told Cincinnati’s asking price included a young defensive player and a 2026 first-round pick, according to league sources.

Wolf is looking to increase the talent on a Patriots team that went 4-13 last season, prompting an offseason coaching change from Jerrod Mayo to Mike Vrabel. When asked if he could imagine trading a first- or second-round pick for one of the players on the trade market, Wolf did not mince words.
“Yeah, absolutely,” Wolf said. “We’re talking to all 31 other teams and trying to do what’s best for us,” Wolf said. “If something presents itself, I think those things are often a lot more complicated than the fans and some others like to make you believe, but if there’s something we think can help us, we’ll definitely be open to it.”
The Patriots play their final preseason game Thursday night in New York against the Giants.
