Manchester City bagged an impressive 4-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their opening game of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Erling Haaland scored a brace, along with debutants Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki netting one goal each to add to Man City’s victory.
While Man City were on the receiving end of success at Molineux Stadium with new signings, there was a significant change in the starting squad, with James Trafford guarding the goal instead of their first-choice shot-stopper, Ederson.
Ederson’s absence from City’s league opener was reportedly due to stomach problems. However, the 32-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Etihad for a while now.
Earlier, Ederson had claimed that he wants to continue at Man City, with head coach Pep Guardiola also recently stating that he is not aware of the Brazilian’s intentions of leaving the club.
When asked about Ederson’s absence following their win and his potential return to action, Guardiola said,

“Ederson is my player, our player. Ederson is the keeper of six Premier Leagues in seven years, he won the Champions League – he won (us the game) in Madrid and the final. He played every single game during nine years,. He deserves beyond respect. Today he would have played but he was ill. What happens? I don’t know,” as per Manchester Evening News.
“Two years ago there were rumours about Saudi. He’s always behaved unbelievably. The club always needs two or three good keepers.”
Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Man City is in negotiations with Galatasaray over a potential deal for Ederson.
How much are Man City asking Galatasaray for Ederson?
Galatasaray have reportedly already submitted an opening bid of €10m to Man City to acquire Ederson’s signature. However, the Premier League side have requested €25m, and while there is quite a gap in the price, both clubs are trying to work out an agreement that works for both, according to Romano.
Ederson is also reportedly keen on joining Galatasaray for the 2025/26 campaign. He arrived at Man City from Benfica in 2017 and has maintained 168 clean sheets in 372 appearances.
With one year left in his current contract at Man City, it remains to be seen if Ederson makes the move to the Turkish club after eight years at the Etihad.
