Caleb Williams has the pressure of being the franchise quarterback for the Chicago Bears and shouldering the Super Bowl hopes of an entire fanbase. One player who can relate to what Williams is going through is Mitch Trubisky.
Trubisky spoke with Chicago media before the preseason game between the Buffalo Bills and Bears, offering Williams advice from his own experience as the No. 1 quarterback in Chicago.
“Really take it all in,” Trubisky said (h/t CHGO Sports). “I mean, I only had it for four years. I wish I had it longer, to be honest. So take it in, enjoy the process. All eyes are on you in this city, but it’s really a privilege.
“There is a lot of pressure that comes with that, but it’s a privilege and I miss that. It’s a lot of fun to be the franchise guy, especially in a city like this. I would just say have fun with it and enjoy the process. Enjoy it in the moment.”

Chicago took Trubisky with the second overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, with the 30-year-old playing four years in the Windy City. In 2018, the Bears did make it to the playoffs with the North Carolina product under center, but it never turned into a long-term marriage between Trubisky and the franchise.
During his time in Chicago, Trubisky passed for 10,609 passing yards, completed 64 percent of his passes, threw 64 touchdowns, and 37 interceptions. These numbers weren’t enough for the Bears to offer him a second contract, and they opted to let him leave.
After leaving Chicago, Trubisky joined the Bills and then went to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and is now in a second stint with Buffalo.
Meanwhile, Williams is heading into Year 2 and his first season under head coach Ben Johnson, so many want to see the USC product take that extra step that Trubisky never took to solidify himself as the long-term fix at quarterback for the Bears.
