The Los Angeles Chargers lost for the first time this preseason, falling in the battle of L.A. when the Rams scored a touchdown with just seconds remaining to squeak out a 23-22 victory.
The Chargers still had plenty that they can take from this game, with the big story, at least statistically, coming from the wide receiver position. The team had three wide receivers step up and make plays in this game.
Tre Harris
The team’s second-round pick had been quiet this preseason, with zero catches on just two targets in the team’s first two games. But he grabbed six passes for 85 yards on Saturday night, looking a lot like the player the team thought it drafted.
This should ease the minds of Chargers fans who may have been wondering about Harris, who started training camp with a short holdout.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
At least to this point in the young 2025 season, KeAndre Lambert-Smith looks like he could be the biggest steal of the entire draft. He caught two passes in this game and they were both big gainers, one for 29 yards and another for 37.
He has locked down a roster spot.
Luke Grimm
Early in camp, Luke Grimm was a name that many saw as a dark horse to make the team, coming in as an undrafted free agent from Kansas. His star seemed to be fading as camp went on, but then he did this on Saturday night.

He added one catch for six yards, but his impact, at least initially, could be as a punt returner. The Chargers probably have enough depth in front of him to begin the season with, but he’s a name to keep in the back of your mind for the future, so long as he clears waivers if the team chooses not to place him on the initial 53-man roster.

This all came on a night where Quentin Johnston was knocked out of the game early following a scary collision.
