Fresh after celebrating their FA Community Shield win over Liverpool, Crystal Palace have been struck with a major blow as Eberechi Eze’s departure links intensifies with Tottenham Hotspur pushing for the England star.
Eze has been monumental in Oliver Glasner’s system as he scored the decisive goal in their FA Cup triumph against Manchester City last season.
But the 27-year-old has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham for the entire summer transfer window and with Spurs pushing ahead, it seems they see him as a ideal replacement for James Maddison, who will miss a major chunk of the 2025/26 campaign due to ACL injury.
According to Sacha Tavolieri’s reports, Eze has reached an agreement on personal level with Spurs and the England international is now eager to join the North London outfit and may probably miss their Premier League opener against Chelsea on Sunday.
Therefore, Crystal Palace have already started looking for replacements and as per David Ornstein, the Eagles are working on the deal to sign Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss.
Palace reportedly have seen their first bid worth £20m ($27m) get rejected for the 21-year-old as the Foxes are keen to hold onto the Moroccan midfielder.

Earlier, El Khannous had a release clause around £24.5m but Crystal Palace missed the cut by a whisker as the clause got expired on August 15.
Apart from Crystal Palace, Premier League clubs like Leeds United and Newcastle United have also shown interested in El Khannouss following his exceptional performances for Leicester City.
Why are Crystal Palace chasing Leicester’s Bilal El Khannouss?
El Khannouss is easily one of the best players in the Leicester City setup as he marked the club’s relegation to the Championship with a couple of assists in their 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

The young Moroccan received a lot of applause for his performances for the Foxes last season in the Premier League. Hence clubs believe that he belongs to this level and are keen on signing him.
Last season, despite Leicester’s relegation El Khannouss caught the eye across 36 appearances in all competitions with an overall total of three goals and five assists.
El Khannous is known for his technical ability, ball carrying skills, spatial awareness, vision and passing range.
Therefore, Crystal Palace believe that the young Moroccan could be their long-term fix if Eze decides to move on from Selhurst Park this summer. He would have the right environment at Selhurst Park to grow and develop under Glasner’s tutelage.
