Barcelona’s matchday squad, who’s in? who’s out?

Barcelona kickoff their league campaign traveling away from home to face Mallorca. They have announced their matchday squad and there are some players who fans will be happy to see registered and others left out for similar reasons.

Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia In

With all the registration scrambling, Barcelona have managed to register Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford in the early morning hours of the season opener. There were concerns whether Barcelona could do both in time but it’s official as they now appear on La Liga’s page.

It was key to register Joan Garcia as Barcelona had Iñaki Peña as the only goalkeeper registered so far. Rashford can help provide cover as Robert Lewandowski is nursing an injury and has a chance to get his first start for the Catalan club.

Five Players aren’t traveling

Robert Lewandowski will miss the game against Mallorca with a hamstring injury that he picked up in training.

Roony Bardghji, Wojciech Szcezsny, and Gerard Martin won’t travel as they have yet to be registered. Although Roony can be registered with the second team, Barcelona prefer to give him a first team number and register him with the first team. It will likely just be a matter of time for all three of them to be registered.

The final omission is Hector Fort as he’s been left off with an indication that he is likely to leave the club. There are links to Mallorca, Paris FC, and now Aston Villa.

Barcelona will be looking to continue their form from last season and hope to start off their season on the right foot.
