Yankees’ Aaron Judge makes 29-team home run history with opposite-field bomb vs. Cardinals

Aaron Judge has hit a lot of home runs for the New York Yankees.

But before Saturday night, one kind was lacking.

Not anymore.

Judge hit an opposite-field blast in his second at bat against the St. Louis Cardinals, and his collection was complete.

With that homer, Judge has now hit a home run against every one of the other 29 MLB teams.

It’s a remarkable achievement, one that requires longevity, consistency and a little bit of luck.

In the old days, it could never happen. There was no interleague play.

But now in the era of interleague play, there are so many teams. Even if you play everyone eventually, you still need to find a way to hit the home runs themselves.

Judge knows homers, that’s for sure.

On Saturday, he was quite locked in from the outset against former Yankees pitcher Sonny Gray.

On the first pitch he saw, batting third in the top of the first inning, Judge roped a line drive into the left field corner to score a run.

It was the first pitch of his second at bat in which Judge left the yard.

Ben Rice went on to steal the night with lots of RBI, but Judge set the tone.

And now, Judge has completed his card. Yankees fans sure hope he never gets a chance to make it 30-for-30, because that’d require the franchise legend to leave the Bronx.

The pinstripes, and those road grays, certainly look good on Judge. And he’s made things look quite good on the field often for New York, no matter the opponent.
