Mallorca vs. Barcelona prediction: Odds, betting tips and best bets for champions’ La Liga opener

Aiming to best last season’s exceptional achievements, Barcelona return to action to begin the 2025/26 season on the road as they visit sunny Mallorca in their La Liga opener.

In his first season in charge, Hansi Flick led the Catalans to a domestic treble, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana. Where it matters most, however, they fell just short, agonizingly eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the semifinals by Inter Milan.

With largely the same squad returning this season, Barca will look to match or best those marks with their same high-flying style that elevated both Raphinha and Lamine Yamal to Ballon d’Or candidacy while reviving Robert Lewandowski’s career as well.

Mallorca are hoping to run it back, too, with very few changes themselves from a side that finished 10th in the league table.

Mallorca vs. Barcelona prediction, odds

There are some question marks for Barcelona heading into this match, which could affect their performance. The registration of both Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford isn’t a guarantee, so neither is a lock to be with the squad. Lewandowski is also injured and reportedly won’t take part. Additionally, the club is in a war of words with injured goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, so Wojciech Szczesny is likely to continue in the position.

Still, Barca should have the firepower to get past an offensively-challenged Mallorca that produced just 10 total shots across the two games against the Blaugrana last season.

Mallorca vs. Barcelona best bet

  • Pick: Barcelona to win to nil
  • Odds: +145 (DraftKings)

Given Mallorca’s inability to score last season, this is an excellent play at great odds. Sure, Barcelona give up opportunities on the counter at a higher rate than most top clubs, but if there’s any opponent unable to take advantage, it’s this one.

Mallorca’s 10th-place finish last season was almost entirely down to their exceptional back line, as they scored the second-fewest amount of goals in the league. In the two games against Barcelona, they registered one goal on 10 shots worth 1.17 xG, hardly a volume that builds confidence in an upset.

We were going to take both teams not to score at about even money, but at that point, you’re really just deciding whether Mallorca score or not anyway. So, this is the better play.

Mallorca vs. Barcelona prop bet

  • Pick: Lamine Yamal 5+ total shots
  • Odds: +130 (DraftKings)

This is normally an outrageously high bar to clear, but one the young star should manage to reach.

Mallorca sat deep against Barcelona and let the La Liga winners come at them last season — a strategy that failed miserably in the first meeting but almost worked in the second. Across those two matchups, Barca ripped off an utterly absurd 60 shots, with Lamine Yamal managing 16 of those.

Barcelona didn’t exactly play anyone of high caliber, but they were excellent in preseason, with Lamine Yamal scoring twice against Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy match. He should come out firing here, especially with Lewandowski on the shelf and Ferran Torres a more creative striker to play off.
