The NBA schedule was released on Thursday and has provided every team with some dates to circle next season.
After the league’s annual schedule release, it’s hard not to get excited about the upcoming season after all of the offseason’s twists and turns. However, one of the most notable parts of the offseason was the lack of a big twist in Milwaukee, with the Bucks hanging on to Giannis Antetokounmpo.
While those rumors haven’t been fully silenced, the New York Knicks were one of the teams that already moved on from that possibility, signing Mikal Bridges to a long-term extension after expecting Antetokounmpo to remain with the Bucks. With Antetokounmpo being satisfied in Milwaukee for now, the Knicks would love to prove that they were the right team for his next season.
As FanSided’s Dan Favale recently wrote, the Knicks might be able to prove their point in the opening stages of next season. As Favale noted, the Knicks will be in Milwaukee on Oct. 28 for the fourth game of the season, giving them an early opportunity to send a message.
Favale wrote that the Knicks can truly pour some salt in the wound for Antetokounmpo’s desire to win another title. If New York can make a statement in Fiserv Forum, it could show Antetokounmpo that the Bucks are well behind the Knicks in the contender picture.
Of course, with an MVP like Antetokounmpo, he could easily send a message right back, but the Knicks would love to show the superstar what he’s missing and what could have been.
