The summer transfer window will close in a few weeks, and Real Madrid has brought in four new players for the new season. The club brought in Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras, and Franco Mastantuono.
The club has reportedly not been active in searching for a fifth signing, but as the summer window is close to its end, a new rumor has sparked in the club, potentially bringing Ibrahima Konate. The Liverpool defender has been linked with Real Madrid this year and is expected to arrive soon.
Konate’s contract at Liverpool expires next year, and Real Madrid is hopeful to bring in the defender for free next summer, similar to what the Spanish club did with Alexander-Arnold. Despite being willing to wait, Real Madrid could approach Liverpool with a bid this summer.
Liverpool will reportedly offer Konate a new contract extension, and if the player rejects it, the Premier League champions will look to offload the defender this summer. Liverpool appears to anticipate Konate’s departure as they are set to sign Giovanni Leoni and Marc Guehi.
Real Madrid’s latest decision in terms of the current squad hints that they will sign another player, with Konate as the potential target.
Real Madrid Saves First-Team Number for New Signing
Franco Mastantuono’s number gives away Real Madrid’s intentions for the summer transfer window. Gaston Edul reports that Mastantuono will be registered as part of Real Madrid’s reserve team, as he was given the number 30.
The only first-team number available for the new season is the number 25. Diario AS reports that Real Madrid’s chances to sign Konate in the next few weeks are increasing as Liverpool prepares to bring Leoni and Guehi in one window.
Diario AS also reports that Konate wants to join Real Madrid, whether it’s this summer or next summer. If Liverpool is willing to sell this summer, Real Madrid is reportedly considering bidding close to $30 million for the defender.
