The Golden State Warriors have yet to make any significant offseason moves while navigating contract talks with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.
The club has reportedly put its offseason signings on hold during the negotiation process with Kuminga, though Golden State has been in talks with several free agents, including Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II.
Former-76ers star Ben Simmons remains a free agent and has been connected to several contending teams on a cost-effective deal.

Once their situation with Kuminga is resolved, Simmons could be a realistic addition for the Warriors, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.
“He played 18 games for the Clippers [in 2024-25], averaging 2.9 points and 3.1 assists per game in 16.4 minutes. Those numbers dipped in the playoffs, as his time was cut almost in half. And now that L.A. has added John Collins and Chris Paul, Simmons doesn’t seem likely to return,” Pincus wrote. “The Golden State Warriors could be an interesting fit for Simmons in a reserve Draymond Green-like role.”
Simmons’ regression as a scorer has made him a more affordable option for teams looking for backup ball-handlers or versatile big men. Still, the 6-foot-10 LSU product remains a talented defender and capable distributor.
The Warriors need more big men, and Simmons’ ability to create for his teammates, combined with his size and defensive versatility, makes him a viable option for Golden State.
While the former No. 1 overall pick is not the same player he once was with the Philadelphia 76ers, he can still contribute in a reduced role and could be a solid addition as the Warriors aim for a deep playoff run in 2025-26.
