Giants legend Odell Beckham Jr. breaks silence on retirement rumors

Odell Beckham Jr. clearly heard about the fake news.

A parody account posted that OBJ was retiring, and the post had hundreds of thousands of views on X.

Beckham took to social media Tuesday afternoon to clear things up for good.

He posted:

Beckham is currently a free agent, but he is also not retired. He just has yet to sign a contract for the 2025 season yet.

The 32-year old wide receiver has played in 10 NFL seasons, including his five superstar years with the New  York Giants that included 5,476 receiving yards on 390 catches with 44 touchdowns.

OBJ also had an 1,000-yard campaign with the Browns as part of three seasons in Cleveland.

And he has since played for the Rams, Ravens and Dolphins.

Last season in Miami, Beckham played nine games and caught nine passes for 55 yards.

Beckham is the second former star wideout to be caught up in fake retirement rumors this summer.

Previously, Amari Cooper had the same thing happen to him, even from the same account on X, which is named Adam Schelfer (meant to pass as ESPN’s Adam Schefter).

But Cooper isn’t retired, and neither is OBJ. Both would surely love a team to sign them to a free agent contract and let them keep playing football, because retirement rumors about yourself when you know you aren’t retiring can’t be particularly fun.
