The Chicago Bulls have had a fairly quiet offseason amid contract talks with restricted free agent Josh Giddey.
The club re-signed Tre Jones and traded Lonzo Ball for Isaac Okoro, but the main storyline has been securing a new deal for Giddey. With Okoro joining youngsters Matas Buzelis and Noa Essengue at the forward spots, it appears as though Patrick Williams may be the odd man out.
According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com, the Bulls could look to move the former No. 4 overall pick after an underwhelming start to his career.
“Noise surrounding Patrick Williams will rise before this season’s trade deadline,” Siegel wrote. “The Bulls are focused on Matas Buzelis, Noa Essengue, and now Isaac Okoro on the wing, which makes Williams very expendable.”

Williams signed a five-year, $90 million extension last June, which includes a player option for the 2028-29 campaign. His sizable long-term deal could make him more difficult to move, though a strong start to next season might boost his trade value.
Still only 23 years old, the Florida State product has potential, but he’s been disappointing for the rebuilding Bulls. Last season, he averaged just 9.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists across 25.0 minutes per game in 63 regular-season appearances, shooting a career-worst 39.7 percent from the field.
Williams began last season as a starter but eventually shifted to a bench role, which is a trend that’ll likely continue. With other promising young options emerging, it wouldn’t be surprising if Chicago explores trade scenarios for him.
