Tottenham back in race to sign Premier League star

Tottenham Hotspur have made some significant additions this summer to strengthen their squad for a better run in the upcoming season.

Spurs concluded their 2024/25 campaign by ending their 17-year trophy drought by claiming the Europa League title and a 17th-place finish in the Premier League.

With five new signings already in order, reports have suggested that there are some more arrivals expected at Tottenham.

Tottenham are back in talks with Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. He is also reportedly interested in potentially joining Spurs.

Why are Tottenham back in the transfer race for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze?

Even though the Englishman has been on their transfer target list for a while now, Tottenham’s revived interest in Eze comes with Son Heung-min’s recent departure and James Maddison’s injury, as per Romano. They have also been heavily linked to signing Savinho from Manchester City.

Tottenham’s potential deal for Eze reportedly depends on Crystal Palace, as his release clause has expired.

Spurs’ pursuit of Eze is not expected to be a smooth one, as Arsenal are also reportedly keen on signing the midfielder. Even though the Gunners are yet to make a move for him, a possible transfer battle is anticipated between the two London rivals for the 27-year-old star.

Eze, who arrived at Crystal Palace from Queens Park Rangers in 2020, turned heads with his performances last season, netting 14 goals and providing 11 assists in 43 games across competitions.

With two more years left in his contract at Crystal Palace, Eze has recorded a total of 40 goals and 28 assists in 168 appearances for the Premier League club.
